As the number of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) cases in the United States — and more specifically in the Austin area — increases, we continue to monitor and mitigate risks for Longhorn Village Residents and team members. Our leadership team reviews the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and city and state recommendations daily. We will continue to share critical and relevant information with our residents and families regarding steps we are taking to keep our community safe.
To continue to provide safety and security for our residents and team members, we are still restricting all visitors to our campus until further notice. Exceptions to this precaution include visits to hospice residents imminently close to end of life, and those who are gravely ill. These exceptions will be considered rare and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
We will continue to evaluate the situation, evolve our plans as necessary and keep our residents and their families updated.
We believe restricting outside visitors will reduce infection control risks moving forward. Here are just a few of many ways to stay in touch with your loved ones during this difficult time of recommended social isolation:
- Make frequent phone calls.
- Use FaceTime or Skype and Zoom to connect.
- Send your message through Care Cards at https://longhornvillage.com/about-us/care-cards/
- Mail a care package or card.
We have and continue to ensure our residents are provided or have access to all essential needs and services. We appreciate your support in keeping our residents and team members safe. Please feel free to reach out at any time with concerns or questions.
