Social Director Dawn Lindsey is always on the go. She has to be – she and her team pull off more than 300 activities and events each month.
“More and more seniors are embracing wellness,” she said. “They’re looking for ways to keep fit and find the right lifestyle balance which will enable them to live longer and healthier.”
With that in mind, Dawn focuses on eight dimensions of wellness when planning activities: intellectual, emotional, environmental, health services, vocational, spiritual, physical, and social.
Dawn has been with Longhorn Village since the day it opened on Aug. 17, 2009. For her, the best part of her job is getting to know the residents and hearing their amazing life stories. “These residents have changed the world, and it is unbelievable and inspiring to learn from them,” she said.
When she isn’t working, Dawn enjoys seeing the world, whether it’s via cruise ship or an extreme bike ride. She has biked halfway across the United States twice – once riding from San Francisco to Pueblo, Colo., and another time from Eugene, Ore., to Mount Rushmore. On the weekends, she enjoys taking it easy with her cat, Whisper.
